Feudal Spanish III/35b, plus morphs

With beige grass from Gamers Grass, and dry brushing stone and grass alike with silver gray, they are pretty much done!

Army core: 3Kn/5Bd general, 3x3Kn (of which 2 are old-fashioned round-shields,) 1x3Cv, 1xLH, 3x4Sp, 2xjavelin Ps, and options of either 1x3Cb or 1xsling Ps.

Extra elements: From the wealth of the HaT Spanish foot, I have 2 more Bd and 1 more Sp; 1 base of bow Ps, 2 bases 3Bw. These are all used by either/both III/52 Normans and IV/7 Early Crusaders.

More wanted: in order to get a full morph with Normans, six to eight more 3Kn are needed - Normans love knights! In order to get a full morph with Early Crusaders, I need 2x4Cb, and 1 turcopole horse archer LH.

It would also be handy but not mandatory to get 7Hd elements for both morph armies. If need be I can bring those in from other feudal armies.

I think my rescue succeeded. I've recently bought Vallejo iraqi sand, being a little tired of mixing when I want beige, and using that as a wash or dry smear as needed unified the ghastly patchwork I had.

Well I had a concept, then I did not follow through. Got the basic basing done, next is grasses and possibly trying to fix this mess up.

Yesterday and today were shield-painting days. Rather clumsy because I really wanted to get them done. At a distance they'll look OK.

I decided to update tonight as I have found a little banner-time and this weekend may end up devoted to shields. 

These banners are home made from normal 80gsm paper, varnished, and washed with moon yellow. Then mostly felt pens such as sharpies.

Getting to the finish line now... highlights and faces are complete, I washed the dark wash over them all, and to some, added a color wash from among The Army Painter inks/tones. 

The next stage is shields and banners.

The minis, both mounted and foot, are nearing the 'detail' stage. Foot just need faces and color highlights, mounted need some white patches/sox and faces (horse and rider).

Though the week has not been suited to getting onto the minis again, I've just been able to get second coats onto the pale yellow base coat or orange base coat minis. 

Yellow - a mix of deep yellow, yellow green, and white produced the kind of natural crocus look I wanted.

Red - scarlet red, well thinned, over the orange.

I left some orange as is, they will look buff brown once given a dark wash.
